Wiki Project Spotlight

Japanese Language Courses

Kasumi Kato

Japanese Language students studying 1st through 4th semesters actively participate in wiki assignments throughout their courses. While the courses are taught from UW-Whitewater, students are on both the Whitewater and Platteville campuses. They begin their semester with an assignment to introduce themselves and ask each other questions but continue throughout the semester with additional assignments related to the topics studied. The wiki provides students with an opportunity to talk about themselves and learn more about their classmates in the target language. Students build connections across campuses as they get to know each other. Students on their own have created topics to discuss including such areas as culture and study skills.
